Congratulations to Ciarán Brolly who represented Ulster Athletics Team in the London Marathon at the weekend, having previously being place 4th in the All Ireland Cross Country Championships in Cork.

Congratulations to Patrick Mc Cullagh who came 2nd in the 5k of the Gortin Fun Run on Saturday

Congratulations to Lasairíona O’Neill, Ursula and Aoibhinn Scallon from Gortin who attend Gaelscoil na gCrann an Ómaigh on winning the overall drama title in the All-Ireland Drama Festival last week in Mullingar. They competed with 22 schools in the Ulster Festival prior to this and lost out by one point to the overall winner in Letterkenny. 21 children from Gaelscoil na gCrann travelled to Mulingar and competed with 44 schools from all over Ireland, ranging from Naiscoils to Grammar Schools and youth clubs. The competition ran for one week and  Gaelscoil na g Crann won the category for primary schools. They were also crowned at the end as the overall winners of the entire competition. Their drama is called ‘Something Inside So Strong’ depicting a family being evicted from their home during the famine in Ireland. Ursula played the mother, Lasairíona, one of the children and Aoibhinn played a solo tin whistle piece when their house was burning down. Theywill be presented with their trophy and medals in Croke Park on the 7th May. The drama will be showcased in the Strule Arts mid-June.
